It's Okay to Fail
Albert Einstein once said “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new”. Even the greatest minds understand that we are all human, we all make mistakes, we all fail and that’s ok. Failure helps us learn, if we fail we understand what works and what doesn’t and it means that we are able to build on that and try again. From this we also learn that failing is not the end, it is just part of a journey that we are on, it is a process and it doesn’t matter. It helps us find what really makes us truly happy.
Lets put this into context, a friend was made redundant from a job she neither liked nor wanted, the money was fantastic, but the work, for her was both boring and under stimulating. When she first learned about her redundancy she felt like she’d failed, let herself down, but part of this experience really enabled her to spend time looking at what made her happy, where her values were, what she really wanted her life to look like.. It gave her the space to try new things, to volunteer, to take the time, without judgement. It also taught her not to care what people thought.
It’s important to go out and try new things without feeling worried or stressed about the idea that you might fail, because if we don’t go out and take calculated risks, although we never experience the low’s, we never experience the true highs that come when we achieve success. True confidence comes from embracing the challenges. From letting go. From being kind to yourself.
